Midwinter Day: A Reading to Benefit Bernadette Mayer

Join us to celebrate the anniversary of Midwinter Day and to benefit poet Bernadette Mayer, "the mother of us all." More than forty years after Mayer composed the book-length poem Midwinter Day over the course of one winter's day in 1978, writing organizations across the country are joining forces to host readings in honor of foundational feminist poet Bernadette Mayer. This year Iowa City Poetry and the Midwest Writing Center are teaming up to host the event in Iowa. The free reading will also seek donations to The Friends of Bernadette Mayer Fund to benefit the ailing poet who has given so much to the arts throughout her life.

DATE:  Wednesday, December 22

TIME:  6-8 pm, Central (4-6 Pacific, 5-7 Mountain, 7-9 Eastern)

LOCATION:  Virtual at your choice of Zoom Meeting or livestream on YouTube or Facebook.

DONATIONS:  To donate directly to benefit Bernadette Mayer, please visit the donation page on her website. Scroll down for PayPal link.
