A Map of Who I am and Where I’m Headed

What makes a good map? How do you decide what landmarks to include and disregard, what keys are necessary for legibility? Who is the map for and what do they already know? What might require translation or illustration or guidance? So many of these questions can also be asked while writing poems! In this generative workshop, we will use map-making as a lens to examine and discuss contemporary poetry, and practice honing an authentic voice and story—communicated with vibrant, compelling language that moves others—in the direction we want them to move!
