June Reading for PorchLight & Iowa City Poetry

Join us Saturday, June 14, when Iowa City Poetry and PorchLight welcome award-winning poet Sandra Marchetti, Iowa Writer's Residency Winner Samuel Burt, and Iowa Writer's Residency Finalist Jenny Rowe. Jenny Rowe

Jenny Rowe holds an MFA in creative nonfiction from the University of Montana, where she served as editor-in-chief of CutBank. She's working on a memoir about love addiction as a divorced expat in pre-pandemic Beijing, and she's now a bookseller at Prairie Lights in Iowa City. Sandra Marchetti

Sandra Marchetti is the 2023 winner of The Twin Bill Book Prize for Best Baseball Poetry Book of the Year. She is the author of three full-length collections of poetry, DIORAMA, forthcoming from Stephen F. Austin State University Press (2025), Aisle 228 (SFA Press, 2023), and Confluence (Sundress Publications, 2015). Sandy is also the author of four chapbooks of poetry and lyric essays. Her poetry and essays appear widely in Mid-American Review, Blackbird, Ecotone, Southwest Review, Subtropics, and elsewhere. She is Poetry Editor Emerita at River Styx Magazine. Sandy earned an MFA in Creative Writing—Poetry from George Mason University and now serves as the Assistant Director of Academic Support at Harper College in Chicagoland. Samuel Burt

Samuel Burt is a poet and artist from Grinnell, Iowa. The 2024 recipient of the Gwenn A. Nusbaum Scholarship from the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association and a 2022 winner of the AWP’s Intro Journals Project, Samuel’s poems have been featured in Salt Hill, OSU’s The Journal, Colorado Review, Arc Poetry Magazine, and many more print and digital journals. He holds a poetry MFA from Bowling Green State University, reads for Fahmidan Journal, and works at the Grinnell College Libraries.
